Joined Lord Chancellor’s Department working in the County Courts in Keighley, Bradford and Leeds during which time she studied for an LLB on a part time basis qualifying as a solicitor in 1990 specialising in corporate and employment work. She was a member of Bradford Advisory Panel for the recruitment/discipline of magistrates retiring after a 9 year maximum term. She is also a member of the Moorlands Fundraising Committee for the local Sue Ryder Home at Oxenhope.
