Peter Ackroyd, MBE DL

R. Peter Ackroyd has worked in the Yorkshire wool textile industry since 1974, after returning from a John Speak Modern Language Scholarship in Lille, Northern France.

He was Director of the Bradford based National Wool Textile Export Corporation for twenty years, travelling extensively in Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia Pacific. In 2006 he was awarded the MBE for his services to the wool industry. He has held the position of Global Strategic Advisor to the Woolmark Company in Australia since 2008.

In 2011, he became President of the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO), a post he held until April 2019. He continues to serve on the IWTO Executive Committee. In addition to his Australian and IWTO duties, he is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Campaign for Wool, a global initiative created to promote the environmental credentials of wool, whose Patron is HRH The Prince of Wales. He is a member of the Court of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen.

He lists music, film, current affairs and modern French literature as his principal interests.
