Nicola Chance-Thompson, DL

CEO of the Piece Hall

Nicola Chance-Thompson is the CEO and Trustee of the multi award winning Piece Hall in Halifax. Since it re-opened in August 2017, the Piece Hall has attracted over 5.8m visitors and has rapidly become nationally and internationally admired, having featured on shows such as Antiques Roadshow, BBC Children in Need and Good Morning Britain. An exciting independent heritage, retail, food and culture destination, the Piece Hall has put on a series of high-profile events spanning art, visual spectacles, film and music - hosting world class bands such as Elbow. Before taking up the Trust CEO role, Nicky worked on major regeneration and restoration projects following an award-winning career in advertising.

A Londoner by birth, Nicky moved to Halifax in West Yorkshire in 2006 and has been passionate about the town and region’s regeneration, adopting the town and county as her new home. During 2018/2019 she was very proud to be the Mayoress of Calderdale in a supporting role to her husband the Mayor and loved meeting and serving the communities of Calderdale. Nicky won Yorkshire Businesswoman of the Year in 2019 and is on the Northern Power Women’s Power List. She also holds several non-executive voluntary roles in which she is a director including: Northern Broadsides, Halifax Business Improvement District and The Halifax Culture Hub. In other volunteer capacities Nicky works closely with women who are trying to rebuild their lives after addiction and supporting the homeless. In her spare time, Nicky loves walking in the Yorkshire countryside with her dogs, horse riding, reading, going to the theatre or concerts, spending time with her family and finally catching up on the Archers.
