DEPUTY LIEUTENANTS

Sue Baker, MBE JP DL

Sue serves as a Magistrate chairman in the Adult crime court and as a Judge in the Family Court in West Yorkshire. She is also an adviser and supervisor at Leeds Citizens Advice where she has volunteered for over 40 years.

First appointed a magistrate some 23 years ago, she has served on a number of different committees at the court including being Deputy Chairman of the Leeds and subsequently West Yorkshire Bench, the Bench Training & Development Committee, Chairman of the Family Panel and Chairman of the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Panel which deals with the recruitment and disciplinary issues of magistrates.

In 1995 Sue was appointed an Honorary Officer of the Leeds Jewish Representative Council, and went on to become only the second Lady President in its history. During this time she also served on a number of other charitable committees within the Leeds Jewish community.

She was awarded an MBE in 2006 for services to the community and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2007.

Sue lives in Leeds and has 2 adult children and 2 grandchildren.
