Penny Hemming initially studied history at King’s College, University of London, and then spent 16 years in the City. Following her move to Yorkshire in 1985, she worked as a consultant in business and tourism.
Penny was appointed CBI Regional Director for Yorkshire and the Humber in 1995, where she developed a detailed knowledge and thorough understanding of all issues confronting business.
Penny holds an MBA from the University of Bradford and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Kingston.
Penny was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire in 2000 and was awarded an OBE for services to business in the Queen’s birthday Honours List in June 2007.
Penny is a member of the Yorkshire Ladies Council for Education (YLCE), a patron of the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and has wide interests in charities for the deaf.
