Miss Anne E Mace, OBE, DL, MA (Oxon)

Anne was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 1998.

Her professional career was spent in the Probation Service and she was Chief Probation Officer for West Yorkshire from 1986 to 1999, having previously had a similar post in Essex between 1980 and 1986. She also had long-standing involvement with several voluntary and charitable organisations at both national and local level.

In retirement, Anne has undertaken consultancy, advisory and inspection work in the field of penal reform in various parts of the world, as well as managing projects and lecturing in the UK.

Anne is now a Trustee of Together Women, a voluntary sector organisation working in partnership with other agencies to offer programmes for vulnerable women in conflict with the law. Work is undertaken at gender-specific centres in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Hull and through outreach work in local communities.
